The tests explained
VO2 Max, cardiopulmonary testing and Sport Vision: what they measure and who they are for.
What is the VO2 Max Test (CPET)?
The cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) measures the body’s capacity to consume oxygen during maximal exertion, on a cycle ergometer or treadmill. A metabolic mask analyses respiratory gases in real time, allowing the athlete’s aerobic and anaerobic thresholds to be identified. These parameters are used to set personalised training paces and schedules.
What is Sport Vision and who is it for?
Sport Vision is a protocol for assessing and training an athlete’s dynamic visual skills. It goes beyond checking visual acuity: it trains the visuo-motor system to process information under exertion. It is aimed at amateur and professional athletes, particularly those who practise team sports or precision disciplines.
Which visual skills are trained in a Sport Vision programme?
The programme works on parameters linked to athletic movement: eye-hand and eye-foot coordination, peripheral vision, dynamic fixation and visual tracking of a moving target, and stereopsis, i.e. the depth perception used to judge distances and trajectories.
How does a Sport Vision session at MediSport Center work?
The programme begins with a preliminary sports vision assessment carried out by our optometrists, to identify the athlete’s strengths and areas for improvement. Visual training sessions are then structured using interactive light panels, computerised instruments and coordinated dynamic exercises.

Tailored training for athletes of every level
Sports performance is the result of targeted athletic preparation and consistent professional support. Whether you are a professional athlete, a sports enthusiast or an amateur, at MediSport Center we design personalised training programmes to optimise physical performance, endurance and reactivity, and to help prevent injuries.

Assessment programmes to improve sports performance
Our sports assessment protocols are scientifically validated and personalised to each athlete's level and goals, while also standardised to give everyone an effective starting point for their preparation.

Personalised sports training programmes
MediSport Center's athletic preparation programmes are designed to optimise every aspect of physical performance, adapting to individual needs, the sport practised and the athlete's physical condition. The goals of our programmes include:
Improving endurance
Increasing aerobic capacity, sustaining effort over time and helping prevent fatigue and injury.
Optimising cardiovascular function
Increasing oxygen delivery to the muscles, supporting better output and overall health.
Building muscle strength
Work on absolute, explosive and speed strength to meet sporting demands, from technical movements to sustained effort.
Increasing reactivity and improving posture
Targeted exercises for motor control, balance, quick changes of direction and injury prevention.

Functional assessment
Functional assessment of the athlete is an essential tool for planning effective, scientifically grounded training to improve physical wellbeing, help prevent injuries and optimise the sports performance of professional athletes, amateurs, sports clubs and people who enjoy physical activity.

Sports gnathology
Sports gnathology is a discipline that studies the relationship between the balance of the stomatognathic system (jaw, teeth and masticatory muscles) and the athlete's physical performance. An altered occlusion or a jaw dysfunction can affect posture, muscle tone and motor coordination, and may also increase the risk of injury.

Sport vision
Good vision plays an important role in sports performance. At MediSport Center we offer dedicated sport vision programmes to help athletes of every level improve their visual skills and their reaction to visual stimuli during competition.
