Dr Silvia Fabbri is a midwife with specific training in pelvic floor re-education and rehabilitation (urogynaecological). She practises privately at the MediSport Center clinics in Perugia (San Sisto) and Città della Pieve (Po’ Bandino).
Within the centre she coordinates the programmes dedicated to women’s intimate and perineal health at the different stages of life — pregnancy, postpartum, menopause and older age — covering the prevention and treatment of urogynaecological dysfunctions.
Treatments are personalised and conducted with particular regard for the sensitivity of the area involved, combining manual techniques, hypopressive exercise and dedicated equipment, with the aim of restoring tone, elasticity and function to the perineal muscles.
Examination of the perineal muscles (strength, endurance, ability to relax), useful for the early identification of hypotonia, hypertonia or muscle asymmetries and for setting up the rehabilitation protocol.
Treatment of involuntary urine leakage, both stress-related (coughing, sneezing, lifting, sport) and urgency-related (overactive bladder).
Personalised programmes starting 6-8 weeks after vaginal or caesarean birth, to tone the pelvic muscles, treat the after-effects of episiotomies or painful tears and prevent future prolapse.
Manual therapy and biofeedback aimed at relaxing the pelvic muscles in cases of chronic contracture (hypertonia), vulvodynia, dyspareunia (pain during intercourse) and endometriosis.
Preventive programmes to counter vulvo-vaginal atrophy and tissue laxity caused by hormonal decline, preserving continence and the support of the pelvic organs (uterus, bladder, rectum).
Therapeutic exercise based on a specific expiratory-apnoea breathing technique, which strengthens the deep abdominal wall and core without increasing pressure on the bladder and perineum; also indicated for rectus abdominis diastasis.
